PRINCETON, N.J. — Senior Savannah Rennie scored her first of the season and the 19th of her career Friday night in Syracuse ice hockey's 3-1 loss to No. 6 Princeton. Playing in Hobey Baker Rink in Princeton, N.J., Rennie sounded the horn halfway through the opening frame, but a trio of Tigers goals in the third period spoiled the night for 'Cuse. The Orange close out the series Saturday at noon, and fans can see all the action on ESPN+.
"We were much more disciplined tonight," head coach Paul Flanagan said. "We played hard and everyone contributed. We fell victim to their special teams and that was the difference, but we'll regroup and get back at it tomorrow."
Â
The Tigers mounted their comeback in the third period, their equalizing goal coming eight minutes in when Carly Bullock sniped one under the right half of the cross bar from the left circle. Princeton took the 2-1 lead seven minutes later when Mariah Keopple directed in a clapper from the blue line. Two power play opportunities for Syracuse didn't result in a goal, and the Tigers put a stamp on the night with an empty-net goal 15 seconds before the final whistle.

How it happened
Syracuse jumped on the board just 11 minutes into the first period thanks to Rennie converting on the Orange's first power play of the night. Rennie crashed the net following a shot on Tigers goalkeeper Rachel McQuigge and smacked the follow-up chance past the right post to put the Orange up 1-0.Â
