SYRACUSE, N.Y. - the Syracuse women's soccer team (2-6-2, 0-2-1 ACC) head to South Bend, Ind., this weekend to take on Notre Dame (7-4, 1-2 ACC) at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, and fans can watch the action live on ACC Network Extra.
Â
"We're going to approach Notre Dame with a similar game plan to Florida State where we focused on getting numbers behind the ball and then transition onto the attack when moments arise," head coach Nicky Adams said.
Â
Last Time Out
The Orange hosted defending national champion Florida State on Sunday, Sept. 29 and held the Seminoles to just one goal in 90 minutes. Â The Orange kept the Seminoles' offense at bay for 72 minutes, but a well-placed pass from Yujie Zhao and a bit of finesse by Deyna Castellanos in the final third was all FSU needed to get the win. Â Junior goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx, who now ranks eighth on the Syracuse all-time career saves list, notched eight saves to bring her career total to 83.
Â
Orange Rankings
Scouting the Opponent
The Fighting Irish are coming off a 3-0 loss at No. 4 North Carolina, but are 4-1 at home this season. Their single conference victory thus far came against Pitt on Sept. 26 where they shutout the Panthers, 4-0, at home.
Â
Eva Hurm leads the Notre Dame offense with four goals and two assists on the year, while Luisa Delgado has found the net three times and contributed to foul goals. In net, Mattie Interian and Brooke Littman have split time, with Interian recording a 1.00 GAA and .714 save percentage through six contests, and Littman holding a 0.80 GAA and .733 save percentage.
Â
Down the Road
Following the Fighting Irish, Syracuse will have five days off before they host Wake Forest on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. It will be a pink out at SU Soccer Stadium, all in attendance are asked wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
