Orange Duo Earns ACC Weekly Football Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Redshirt sophomore guard Dakota Davis and senior linebacker were recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday, Nov. 18 for their performances in Syracuse's 49-6 victory over Duke last Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Davis was voted the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week and Williams shared ACC Linebacker of the Week honors with Louisville's Dorian Etheridge.

The team leader with 44 knockdown blocks this season, Davis was the highest-graded member of the Orange's front five against the Blue Devils. He did not allow a sack and collected a team-best five knockdowns in 56 snaps. The Mount Airy, Maryland native opened holes for two 100-yard rushers, as Moe Neal and Jarveon Howard each ran for 115 yards in the game. Additionally, Davis paved the way for an Orange offense that averaged 6.7 yards per play and set season highs for both team rushing yards (286) and team rushing touchdowns (4) against the Blue Devils.

Williams posted his third consecutive double-digit tackle game, making a team-best 14 stops. He added 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one quarterback hurry. Williams' performance led a Syracuse defense held the Blue Devils without a touchdown and limited them to 279 yards of offense on 85 plays (3.3 avg.).

Davis, Williams and the rest of the Orange (4-6, 1-5 ACC) return to action on Saturday, Nov. 23 when they visit Louisville (6-4, 4-3 ACC) for their penultimate regular-season game. Kickoff between the Orange and Cardinals is scheduled for 4 p.m. on ACC Network.
