SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse opens play in the 2019 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 21 when it hosts Rhode Island in the first round at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange earned an at-large bid to the tournament, while the Rams won the Atlantic 10 tournament for an automatic bid.

Tickets for Thursday's match are $6 for adults and $3 for students with an institutional ID and youth under the age of 18. The first 200 Syracuse University students in attendance will receive free admission courtesy of Orange head coach Ian McIntyre. Seating is general admission and parking is free.

The game will be televised on ACC Network Extra, but fans can only watch the stream if their cable provider carries the ACC Network. Fans unsure if their provider carries ACCN are strongly encouraged to visit GetACCN.com. Live updates will also be available on Twitter (@CuseMSoc).

ORANGE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
Syracuse is making the program's seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Orange have an all-time record of 7-4-2 in the national tournament. Syracuse has not played in the first round of the NCAA Tournament since 2012 when it defeated Cornell, 1-0. Thursday's match marks the first time Syracuse will host the first round.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse made it to the second round of the ACC Tournament, but were ultimately eliminated when No. 1 Virginia recorded a 2-1 victory on Nov. 10. The Orange made a push at the end of the game when freshman Luther Archimede scored in the 70th minute, but Syracuse was not able to overcome the Cavaliers' two early goals.

The 'Cuse has two players with more than 20 points on the season for the first time since 2015. Sophomore Ryan Raposo has 32 points on 13 goals and six assists. He is second in the ACC in points and goals and ranks 12th in points and 14th in goals in the NCAA. Senior Massimo Ferrin has 21 points on six goals and nine assists. Ferrin's nine assists are second in the ACC and 10th in the NCAA.

SCOUTING THE RAMS
Rhode Island earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Atlantic 10 Conference final, 1-0, against Dayton. The Rams are unbeaten in their last 11 matches and enter Thursday's game with a 14-3-3 record.

Like the Orange, the Rams also have two players with 20 points on the season. Redshirt sophomore Edvin Akselsen has 20 points on four goals and a team-high 12 assists, while junior Filippo Tamburini also has 20 points on a team-best eight goals and four assists. In goal for the Rams is redshirt junior Stefan Schmidt. He has an .817 save percentage and a 0.90 goals against average. Schmidt also has seven shutouts and 85 saves on the season.
