QUEENS, N.Y. -- Syracuse will take on St. John's in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 24. Kickoff in Queens, N.Y. is set for 5 p.m.

ORANGE UPDATE
The Orange (8-6-5) advanced to the second round after defeating Rhode Island, 3-2, on Wednesday at the SU Soccer Stadium. Sophomore Ryan Raposo scored a pair of goals, including the game winner in the 87th minute on a penalty kick.

'CUSE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
Syracuse is making the program's seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Orange have an all-time record of 8-4-2 in the national tournament.

The win against Rhode Island was the Orange's first in the NCAA Tournament since 2016. Syracuse is making its sixth all-time appearance in the second round.

The 'Cuse faced each of the top four seeds in this year's tournament in either the regular season or the ACC Tournament. Overall, the Orange played 10 squads from the 48-team field.

SCOUTING THE RED STORM
St. John's earned the No. 16 seed and a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament. The Red Storm enter Sunday's match with a 13-4-1 record.

Sophomore Tani Oluwaseyi leads the St. John's offense with 26 points on a team-high 11 goals and four assists. Niko Petridis (14), Skage Simonsen (12) and Brandon Knapp (10) have all also reached double figures in points. Jan Hoffeiner and Luka Gavran have split time in goal for the Red Storm. They have combined for a 0.81 goals-against average and a .795 save percentage.

THE SERIES
Sunday's game marks the 35th meeting between Syracuse and St. John's. The Red Storm own a 19-9-6 lead in the all-time series. The squads met at least once in all but one season between 1982 and 2012 when both teams were members of the BIG EAST Conference.

St. John's visited the SU Soccer Stadium in 2016 in the last meeting between the two schools. Current Atlanta United defender Miles Robinson scored twice to help the Orange to a 3-2 victory.
