
Stoner Wins ACC Title!

Paige Stoner raced her way to her third career ACC Championship, winning the 5000-meters on Friday.
Stoner has now claimed individual conference titles in cross country, indoor track (5000-meters) and outdoor track (3000-meter steeplechase). Stoner beat pre-race favorite Dorcas Wasike of Louisville by 0.51 seconds, finishing in 16:06.48.
Freshman Laura Dickinson closed strong as well, crossing the line in 16:12.22 to take fourth overall. Madeleine Davison (17:11.81/18th), and Emma Wilson (17:39.97/26th), also posted strong finishes in the event.
Iliass Aouani racked up points on the men's side, finishing in 14:07.75 for a third-place finish. Noah Affolder took 10th in 14:22.27, Joe Dragon finished in 18th in 14:32.55. Kevin James (15:00.93) and Dominic Hockenbury (15:25.55)Â also raced for the Orange.
In the mile, Michael Phillips, who leads all true freshmen in the event nationally, advanced automatically winning his heat in 4:07.29. Aidan Tooker also posted a big Q in 4:07.55, while Nathan Henderson qualified on time in 4:07.72, marking a meet-high three finalists in the men's mile.
The Orange also qualified a pair of men in the 60-meter hurdles. Matt Moore returned to racing in strong form, with a time of 7.86 secnods and Richard Floyd posted the same time to get through to Saturday's final. Andrew Aguilera (8.33) finished in 14th.
Kadejhia Sellers is moving on in the 400-meters after taking second in her heat, but posting one of the top-eight times. Her time of 53.98 seconds was the day's fourth-fastest. Alexis Crosby (56.10) and Cheyenne Trigg (58.02), didn't advance in the event.
Dasia Pressley posted a strong time of 24.36 in the 200, but finished 11th after narrowly missing out on the top-eight. Crosby finished in 24.60. Pressley finished in 20th in the 60 with a time of 7.59 seconds, while Eunice Boateng (7.64) took 25th. Chris Tucker (6.90), represented the Orange men, placing 19th.
In the women's mile, freshman Abigail Spiers crossed the line in 4:59.35 and Melissa Lodge finished in 5:03.80, failing to advance to Saturday.
Action continues on Saturday with the event finals from Friday's action, plus the 3000-meter finals which feature numerous Orange competitors, including Stoner.
