Orange go distance-heavy at a pair of meets
The Syracuse track and field teams will split to a pair of meets this weekend, with a group heading to Ames, Iowa Iowa Classic and another set of runners going back to Boston for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Both meets feature a heavy sampling of Orange distance runners, with a select number of sprinters also making the trip to Boston.

- Action begins for both track and field events at 12 p.m. on Friday.

- The meet will be broadcast live on FloTrack
- The meet will take place at Lied Recreation Center
- Paige Stoner will run her first 5k of the season in the invite heat. An NCAA qualifier a year ago, Stoner is 1-of-22 competitors in the top flight of the event. The race features five other ACC competitors as well, with North Carolina's Isabel Zimmerman and Nell Crosby, Notre Dame's Jacqueline Gaughan, Wake Forest's Samantha Halvorsen and Virginia Tech's Sara Freix all set to compete as well.
- Aidan Tooker will also get his first 5k under his belt, also in the invite section. His event features 16 competitors and a host of All-Americans. Tooker will also get his first head-to-head race with another ACC talent of the season, going up against Virginia Tech's Peter Seufer.
- Noah Affolder will compete in the 3000-meter run at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. He's stacked in the third of three heats that features a talented group of competitors.

- With a trio of distance competitors in Iowa, the big distance weekend will continue in Boston as well.
- Iliass Aouani will race in the 5k for the men, the women's race will feature Emma Wilson and Eva Scott.
- Stephen Schulz, Keith McAteer, Nathan Lawler, Kevin James, Dominic Hockenbury, Nathan Henderson, Joey Eovaldi, Joe Dragon and Noah Beveridge all competing in the 3k – an event with over 300 competitors this weekend.
- The women's 3000 also features a number of Orange, Maggie Toczko, Abigail Spiers, Kelsey Potts, Mary Malone, Melissa Lodge, Ellie Lawler, Madeleine Davison, Elizabeth Cultra and Rachel Bonner are set to compete.
- The mile will also feature 300 runners, with Syracuse's Simon Smith racing for the 'Cuse men, Melissa Lodge and Ryley Higgins are entered for the women.
- Cheyenne Trigg, Alexis Crosby and Kadejhia Sellers will compete in the 400-meter run, as will Jalen Racine.
- The 200 will feature Crosby and Dasia Pressley.
- Robert Roosa and James Proctor will run in the 800.
- Aviana Goode placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles Friday in Boston at the Harvard Invite with a time of 8.62 seconds.
- Goode also placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.63 meters.
- Richard Floyd placed fourth in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.05 seconds, while Chevis Armstead finished seventh at 8.28.
