THE GAME
- Syracuse will look to retain the Kraus-Simmons Trophy for the sixth-consecutive year when the team travels to Geneva for a Tuesday night showdown vs. a ranked Statesmen squad.
- The game will be broadcast on Hobart's athletics website. Brian Higgins and Kyle Fetterly will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
THE HOBART SERIES
- This will be the 105th meeting between the two programs, with Syracuse controlling a 76-26-2 record all-time against Hobart.Â
- The Orange have won five games in a row against the Statesmen, and are 18-2 in the series under head coach John Desko (since 1999).
- The two teams first met on April 29, 1916, in what was the first lacrosse game in Syracuse's program history. Hobart won the game 9-1.
- In last season's matchup, Syracuse won 11-4 behind a hat trick from Stephen Rehfuss and two goals from both Nate Solomon and Jamie Trimboli.Â
THE KRAUS SIMMONS TROPHY
- The Kraus-Simmons Trophy has been presented to the victor in this annual showdown every year since 1986. The trophy is named for legendary Orange head coach Roy Simmons Sr., who coached at SU from 1931-70 and won 253 career games, and Babe Kraus who compiled 208 victories at Hobart.
- Syracuse has won 30 of the 33 meetings since the trophy has been awarded, including 20 in a row from 1987 to 2005. The Statesmen gained possession of the trophy in 1986, 2006 and 2013. Otherwise it has resided in Syracuse.
- The Orange retained the trophy last season by beating the Statesmen, 11-4.Â
- Due to space limitations on the prior trophy, this year a new base addition has been installed and the trophy has been updated. There are now commemorative inscriptions for Kraus and Simmons on each side, with additional space to list the winners. The cup at the top remains the original.
ORANGE IN BOUNCE-BACK GAMES
- Head coach John Desko has had tremendous succes in getting the Orange back on track following a loss.
- 'Cuse is 47-23 in games following a loss during a season under Desko (this record does not include the season opener following season-ending losses).
- Under Desko, 'Cuse has only had 12 "losing streaks" (two or more consecutive losses).
NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS
- Syracuse's 4-1 in non-league play so far this season, and is historically strong against non-league foes.
- Since joining the ACC, the Orange is 41-12 versus non-conference opponents, including a 37-9 mark in regular-season, non-league contests.Â
