BUFFALO, N.Y. - Championship bound!
The third-seeded Syracuse women's hockey team (12-21-3) advanced to the 2019 College Hockey America Tournament championship game after defeating second-seeded Mercyhurst, 4-3, in the semifinals Thursday night inside the Harborcenter.
Redshirt junior defenseman Lindsay Eastwood powered the Orange's offense, recording her first career hat trick to lead Syracuse to victory. She scored the game-winning goal - her third of the night - on a power-play opportunity with eight minutes left to play in the final period of regulation.
The Orange will face top seed Robert Morris in the title game, which is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $10 per day for adults and $5 for students. The game will be streamed on the CHA Digital Network.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Eastwood scored goals in all three periods of the game, delivering blow after blow to Mercyhurst. The co-captain's first goal of the night opened the scoring, putting the Orange ahead six minutes into the first period.
Syracuse's 1-0 advantage would not hold, though, as the game turned into a dramatic back-and-forth affair. Mercyhurst tied the game at one with 50 seconds left in the first before taking a 2-1 lead six minutes into the second period.
The Orange trailed for all of a minute before Eastwood came up clutch. Her second of the game, which came on a delayed penalty, tied the game at two.
Junior forward Anonda Hoppner gave Syracuse a 3-2 lead entering the third period, but Mercyhurst fought back, tying the game at three midway through the final period of regulation.
It was then Eastwood who stepped up and delivered the final blow, winning the game for Syracuse on a power play with eight minutes to go.
Junior goaltender Ady Cohen, who made 28 saves, held off Mercyhurst's persistent offensive threats down the stretch, helping to punch Syracuse's ticket to the title game.
OF NOTE
Junior goaltender Ady Cohen started in net and made 28 saves, including 18 in the second period. She finished one save shy of her career high (29), which she recorded at Cornell last October.
The win send Syracuse to the championship game for the seventh time in program history and the first time since 2017. The Orange have never won the conference title.
WHAT LIES AHEAD
A win in Friday's championship game would secure the Orange an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Syracuse, which has played in the conference tournament's title game six times previously, has never earned a bid to the national tournament.
