Youth Cheer Clinic Added to 'Spring Football Saturday' Lineup

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University Athletics has added another event aimed at engaging area youngsters to the itinerary for "Spring Football Saturday" presented by AmeriCU.

In addition to the previously announced youth football clinic, Syracuse head cheer coach and spirit program coordinator Dena Segbers invites children ages 5-11 to attend a one-hour cheer clinic Saturday, April 13 at the Carrier Dome.

Information on how to sign up for both events is below:

Youth Football Clinic (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.) – Entry instructions emailed to registered participants
Organized by James Mungro and featuring instructor Arthur Jones, the clinic is open to the first 150 children ages 5-11 who register. Participants rotate through different skills stations and should wear a T-shirt, shorts and athletic footwear. Visit Cuse.com/SpringCombine to reserve your spot today. Registration ends April 10.

Youth Cheer Clinic (11 a.m. to 12 p.m.) – Entry instructions emailed to registered participants
Organized by Syracuse Cheer and Dance teams, the clinic is open to the first 200 children ages 5-11 who register. Participants will learn various techniques and cheers from the Orange spirit squads. Participants should wear a T-shirt, shorts and athletic footwear. Visit Cuse.com/CheerClinic to reserve your spot today. Registration ends April 10.

"Spring Football Saturday" is co-sponsored by Galaxy Media and Learfield IMG Sports Marketing. The Orange football extravaganza features the program's annual open scrimmage as well as appearances by Syracuse greats Tom Coughlin, Larry Csonka, Floyd Little, Eric Dungey, Mungro and Dan Conley.

Admission and parking are free. However, staff will be located at Carrier Dome entry gates and in the 'Cuse Fan Zone collecting donations for the United Way of Central New York. There is no requirement to give, but suggested donations of $1 to $5 are appreciated to support those in the Syracuse community. Fans who cannot attend may still donate at UnitedWay-CNY.org.
