
Orange #4 Seed in ACC Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse will be the No. 4 seed in next week's ACC Women's Lacrosse Tournament, which will be hosted by Boston College. The Orange will take on No. 5 seed Virginia in the second game of the first round at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 at Alumni Stadium.
Syracuse finished in a three-way tie for second place with North Carolina and Notre Dame in the ACC regular-season standings with a 5-2 league record. The tiebreaker gave the Tar Heels the No. 2 seed and the Fighting Irish the No. 3 seed. Undefeated Boston College earned the top seed in the tournament. Virginia finished the regular season with a 12-5 record, including a 3-4 mark in conference action.
Syracuse enters the tournament with a 14-3 overall mark, with its losses coming to the top three teams in the national rankings. The Orange ended the regular season by winning eight of their last nine contests.
The Orange and Cavaliers met earlier this season in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse pulled away from Virginia with a 7-1 scoring run as it posted a 16-11 victory. Junior Emily Hawryschuk scored four goals for the Orange, while redshirt junior Mary Rahal recorded a career-high five points (2g, 3a).
The winner of the Syracuse-Virginia first-round matchup will take on the winner between Boston College and Louisville in the semifinals on Friday, April 26 at 5 p.m. The championship game is set for Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m.
