
Stoner Posts Nation's Sixth-Best Steeple Time

Paige Stoner turned in the nation's sixth-fastest time in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Virginia Challenge on Saturday, giving her a top-six time in a pair of events this season.
Already owning the No. 2 time in the 10k, Stoner blitzed the field, winning by more than seven seconds. She crossed the line in 10:01.36, taking the victory in the event she claimed third at last year's NCAA Championships. It was her first steeplechase of the 2019 season.
Teammate Laura Dickinson finished fourth in the event (10:10.92), in what was a successful day for the Orange in Charlottesville.

Iliass Aouani continued his strong spring with a fourth-place finish in the invite section of the 1500-meters, crossing the line in 3:45.61. Michael Phillips placed 29th in 3:55.12, while Matthew Scrape (3:58.28) took 37th. John Flannery (4:01.08) took 10th in the open section of the event. Abigail Spiers (4:30.71) led the Orange women in the 1500-meters invite section, taking 23rd.

Finishing in 20:46.69, Kevin James' time was good for fourth in the 10,000-meters. Emma Wilson finished 10th as well, finishing in 37:01.13.
Joe Dragon ran a strong 5000-meters, placing eighth in 14:07.96. Dominic Hockenbury raced to a time of 14:36.76, while Steven Schulz posted a time of 14:53.24 and Nathan Henderson raced to a mark of 15:00.16 in the event as well. Melissa Lodge ran to a time of 17:08.29 for the 'Cuse women as well.
Syracuse also competed at the Cortland Classic on Saturday.

Kayli Jones (4:54.89) finished fourth in the 1500-meters, followed closely by teammate Elizabeth Cultra (5:01.45). Kokeith Perry (5:11.42) took 45th for the men.
The 'Cuse women also sent a realy team of Mariana McManus, Lily Worden, Kira-Marie Wimbert and Hannah Loder to take second in the 4x400-meters with a time of 4:09.01.
The Orange are back in action next weekend at Florida's Tom Jones Invitational and the Big Red Invitational.
