GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse junior Emily Hawryschuk headlines a group of four members of the Orange selected to the All-ACC Women's Lacrosse team in a vote by the league head coaches. Hawryschuk earned first-team honors, while senior Nicole Levy, junior Kerry Defliese, redshirt junior Mary Rahal and freshman Sarah Cooper are members of the second team.
Hawryschuk is making her second straight appearance on the All-ACC First Team. She ranks 18th in the nation in points (73) and 12th in goals (57) in the latest NCAA statistics. Hawryschuk has scored three or more goals in 14 of 17 games and four or more goals in 11 of 17 contests this season. In addition, her six game-winning goals lead the ACC.
Levy leads the team in assists this season with 26 to go along with 27 goals for 53 points. She was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the second consecutive year. Earlier this season Levy became just the 10th player in program history to record 200 career points. She ranks 10th on Syracuse's career points list and is ninth on the all-time assists list.
Defliese, who was also voted to the All-ACC Second Team a year ago, has started all 17 games on defense. She is tied for second on the squad in caused turnovers with 23 and is third in ground balls with 25. Both totals are career highs. Defliese has helped Syracuse average 10.29 caused turnovers per game, which rank third in the league.
Rahal has also started all 17 games in the midfield. She has recorded 18 goals and 12 assists for 30 points. In addition, Rahal has a career-high 23 ground balls. She posted a career-high five points against Virginia earlier this season with two goals and a personal-best three assists.
Cooper is the only freshman on the All-ACC team. The defender leads the team in caused turnovers (27) and is second in ground balls (28). She also has a goal and an assist. Cooper has caused five turnovers in a game twice this season. That total ties her for fourth on Syracuse's single-game record list.
The Orange are the No. 4 seed in this week's ACC Tournament. Syracuse takes on No. 5 seed Virginia on Wednesday, April 24 at 2 p.m. at Alumni Stadium on the Boston College campus. The game will be broadcast on RSN and ACC Network Extra.
