
Penultimate Regular Season Meet in the Books

Keith McAteer and Kira Wimbert provided the Orange with individual event wins at the Big Red Invitational on Saturday.
McAteer pulled away to win the men's 5000-meters in 15:17.03, while Wimbert crossed the line in the women's 400 in 1:00.03.
Wimbert finished four seconds ahead of teammate Lily Worden (1:04.30), who took third. Mariana McManus placed seventh in 1:06.07 and Hannah Loder finished in ninth with a mark of 1:06.35.
Wimbert later took fourth in the 200, finishing in 27.49 seconds. Worden and McManus also doubled, with the freshmen placing eighth in 28.17 and 10th in 28.68, respectively. Loder completed the group, taking 11th in the 200.
The men were represented by James Proctor in Cameron Bailey in the 200 and 400. Procter (24.65) took 12th in the 200, two spots ahead of Bailey (25.70). Proctor also took eighth in the 400 with a time of 54.95. Bailey was right behind in 11th.
In the 1500-meters, a trio of Orange distance runners took fourth-sixth. Led by Olivia Elston (4:58.20), just 0.67 seconds separated the bunch. Kayli Jones finished fifth, with Elizabeth Cultra following right behind.
Keiana Mitchell raced in the 800-meter run for the Orange, posting a time of 2:29.98. Kokeith Perry (2:15.13) ran for the men.
The final competition before the ACC Championship will come next weekend in the form of one of the nation's premier distance events. A few select Orange standouts will head to Stanford for the Payton Jordan Invitational, before the team races in the ACC Championships from May 9-11 in Charlottesville.
