THE GAME
- Syracuse hopes to avenge the 2018 NCAA Tournament loss to the Big Red as Cornell visits the Carrier Dome on Senior Day Tuesday.
- The game will be broadcast on ESPNU with Syracuse alums Jay Alter and Paul Carcaterra on the call. Brian Higgins and Kyle Fetterly will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
THE CORNELL SERIES
- This will be the 105th meeting between the two programs. Syracuse retains a 65-38-1 record all-time against Cornell.Â
- The Orange have lost the last two, including a postseason matchup last season. Under John Desko, Syracuse is 13-9 against the Big Red.
- The two teams first met on May 21, 1920. Syracuse won the game 5-3 in overtime.
- Cornell won both of last season's matchups. After winning the regular season game between the two teams, the Big Red swiped the win in the first round of the NCAA tournament 10-9. Â
SENIOR SENDOFF
- This will be the final home game for ten Syracuse standouts, but as is tradition in the program, players typically walk with their graduating class.
- The nine players walking this season will be: Tyson Bomberry, Andrew Helmer, Willie Klan III, Nick Martin, Nick Mellen, Riley O'Sullivan, Nate Solomon, Jonah Swigart and Bradley Voigt. While they're not all playing in their final home game, due to some of them redshirting, players are typically honored with the teammates they enter 'Cuse with.
- Pat Carlin, Marcus Cunningham, Austin Fusco, Brad McKinney and Luke Schwasnick all walked last season, but will be playing in their final regular season home game on Tuesday.
AGAINST THE IVY LEAGUE
- Against the seven current members of the Ivy League lacrosse conference, Syracuse owns a 183-57-1 record all-time, including winning records against each team.
- In addition to Cornell, 'Cuse has faced Penn (25-1), Princeton (20-9), Yale (19-4), Dartmouth (19-4), Harvard (18-0), Brown (17-1).
TEN BELOW
- Syracuse has won 56-straight games when holding opponents to under 10 goals in a game.
- 36 of those games have come since the start of the 2015 season, including a high of 11 in 2016. Syracuse already has done so four times this year.
- The last time Syracuse failed to win when keeping its foe to single digits was on April 28, 2012, when the Orange fell at Notre Dame, 8-6.
DESKO CLIMBING THE RANKS
- Head Coach John Desko enters Sunday's game 19th nationally on the all-time Division I wins list after collecting his 250th win in last Tuesday's victory over Hobart.
- A win on Tuesday would move him into a tie with longtime Maryland head coach Jack Faber at 251 wins.
- He passed Avery Blake (Swathmore 1931-59, Penn 60-69) and Al Heagy (Maryland 1931-65) with his win over Johns Hopkins.
- Desko is three wins from tying Roy Simmons Sr. for second on Syracuse's all-time wins list (and 16th nationally). Three of Syracuse's four coaches all-time now rank inside the top-19 in NCAA Division I wins.
