EVANSTON, Ill. -- Top five teams collide when No. 5 Syracuse takes on No. 4 Northwestern in the 2019 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, May 18. Opening draw in Evanston, Ill. is set for 2 p.m. Eastern time.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse defeated Georgetown, 14-8, in the NCAA Tournament second round last weekend to advance to the quarterfinals. The win improved the Orange's record to 16-4.

Junior Emily Hawryschuk had one of the best offensive performances in tournament play for a member of the Orange in the win against the Hoyas. Hawryschuk's five goals tie for second on Syracuse's NCAA Tournament record list. In addition, her seven points tie for the fifth-highest total for a 'Cuse player in tournament action.

'CUSE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Orange are making their 10th appearance in the Elite Eight and first since 2016. Syracuse is 7-2 all-time in the quarterfinals. The 'Cuse advanced to the national semifinals in five of the past seven years and eight of the last 11 seasons.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Northwestern defeated Notre Dame, 13-10, in the second round last weekend to advance to the quarterfinals. The Wildcats enter Saturday's game with a 15-4 record this season.

Tewaaraton Award finalist Selena Lasota leads the Northwestern offense. She has 95 points on a team-high 79 goals and 16 assists. Izzy Scane has 56 goals for the Wildcats, while Lindsey McKone has posted 40 goals and dished out a team-best 26 assists. Mallory Weise has started in goal for Northwestern during the past seven games. She has an 11.83 goals-against average and a .500 save percentage this season.

Kelly Amonte Hiller is in her 18th season at the helm of the Northwestern program. She has guided the Wildcats to seven national championships and eight appearances in the title game.

THE SERIES
Syracuse and Northwestern will meet for the 19th time. The Wildcats own a 13-5 advantage in the all-time series and have won all seven games played in Evanston.

Northwestern visited the Dome on Feb. 24. The Orange overcame a late two-goal deficit and tied the game at 14-14 with 25 seconds remaining in regulation on a goal by freshman Megan Carney. The Wildcats won the draw to start overtime, but a turnover gave Syracuse possession. Northwestern stopped Hawryschuk's first shot, but redshirt junior Mary Rahal picked up the ground ball. Hawryschuk didn't miss on her second attempt as she found the back of the net to give the Orange a 15-14 victory.
