Orange Place Top-10 at Eastern Sprints

RACE RESULTS
Worcester, Mass. – The Syracuse Orange won the Petite Final in the varsity eight to finish seventh overall at Eastern Sprints Sunday afternoon at Lake Quinsigamond where all four crews placed in the top-10. The 2V8+ placed eighth, the third varsity eight was fourth in the Grand Final and the 4V8+ earned 10th overall.
In the morning preliminary, the varsity eight was third in Heat 1, missing a spot in the Grand Final by four seconds. In the afternoon Petite Final, 'Cuse edged Central New York foe Cornell by four seconds to cross the line in 6:24.004, the third fastest time out of all three finals.
The 2V8+ was third in Heat 1 in the morning and improved by nearly three seconds in the afternoon to place second in the Petite Final, one second behind leader Boston University.
The 3V8+ was second in Heat 1 in the morning, earning a spot in the Grand Final where they placed fourth behind Yale, Princeton and Harvard in the second race of the afternoon.
Syracuse's 4V8+ was fifth in the morning preliminary and finished fourth in the Petite Final to squeeze in a top-10 overall finish.
Syracuse now heads to the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships from May 31 to June 2 on Lake Natoma at the Nimbus Flat State Park in Sacramento, Calif., where it will seek another top-10 finish. The Orange will find out their seed Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m.
