
Hawryschuk, Cooper Named All-American by Media

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse junior Emily Hawryschuk and freshman Sarah Cooper have been named to Inside Lacrosse's Media All-America Second Team. It is the first All-America honor for both players.

Hawryschuk was a first-team All-ACC and All-Region selection this season. She scored 75 goals in 2019, which is the second-highest single-season total in school history. She also finished with 94 points and 19 assists. Hawryschuk ranked ninth in the nation in goals and 18th in points. In addition, she led the squad with 67 draw controls. Hawryschuk was one of 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award.

Cooper made an immediate impact in her rookie campaign. The ACC Freshman of the Year led the squad in caused turnovers (33) and was second in ground balls (36). She also tied for second in draw controls with 42. Cooper started all 21 games on defense and helped the Orange hold their opponents to less than 10 goals eight times. Â She was voted to the All-ACC Second Team and was the only freshman on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.

Syracuse finished the season with a 16-5 record and earned the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. After receiving a first-round bye, the Orange defeated Georgetown to advance to the quarterfinals for the seventh time in the last nine years.
