Another race, another record.
Senior star Paige Stoner broke her own school 5,000-meter run record Thursday in a late-night west coast race at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational.
One of the nation's premier distance meets, Stoner's race was broken in two sections. She competed in a 19-runner section that featured 10 professionals and nine collegians. Crossing the line in 15:28.34, Stoner was 10th overall and second among collegiate competitors in her section.
She crushed her previous record of 15:41.26, which was set at this meet last season, in the process, and this year's time is the second-fastest nationally to date. She now own's the nation's No. 2 time in both the 10k and 5k and 10th-fastest 3000-meter steeplechase in the country this season.
Stoner wasn't the only Orange star to compete in the meet. Former Orange star Justyn Knight took sixth in the men's invite section of the 5k, crossing the line in 13:20.80, three seconds off his PR time from when he was with the Orange. Fellow Reebok Track Club teammate and former Orange All-American Philo Germano took sixth in section two (13:41.37).
Adam Palamar won his section of the 1500, crossing the line in 3:42.11, which was the 10th-fastest time across all four sections of the race. Sarah Pagano, who now runs for Adidas, placed ninth in the 10k with a time of 31:51.66. Adam Visokay ran to 11th in the 3000-meter steeplechase, posting a mark of 8:34.92.
Next, Stoner and the Orange will head to Charlottesville for the ACC Championships. She's the defending champion in the steeplechase.
