SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Placekicker Andre Szmyt and safety Andre Cisco have received another round of preseason All-America honors. Both players were voted to Street & Smith's Preseason All-America First Team. Additionally, the Orange had five players named to Street & Smith's All-ACC Preseason Team, second only to Clemson's seven selections.
Â
The preseason All-America and all-conference teams are included in the 2019 Street & Smith's College Football Yearbook, which is available in stores and on newsstands now.
Â
The recognition comes on the heels of the release of Athlon's Preseason All-America Teams, which also featured Szmyt (first team) and Cisco (third team). Syracuse had 11 Athlon preseason all-league picks.
Â
A 2018 unanimous All-American, Szmyt led the FBS in most kicking categories, including connecting on an ACC-record 30 field goals. He also hit all 61 of his point-after attempts to finish with a Syracuse single-season record 151 points in 13 games. Szmyt's average of 11.6 points per contest led the FBS.
Â
Cisco tied for the national lead with seven interceptions last season on his way to second-team All-America honors. The ACC's Defensive Rookie of the Year, he set the program record for most passes defended by a true freshman (18) and ranked fourth on the team with 60 tackles (46 solo).
Â
Szmyt and Cisco highlighted Syracuse's selections to the publication's preseason all-conference squad. Defensive ends Alton Robinson, Kendall Coleman and punter Sterling Hofrichter joined them in earning preseason all-league honors. Robinson and Coleman both notched 10 sacks a year ago and averaged an ACC-best 0.83 sacks per game. Hofrichter was the recipient of the 2018 Joe Szombathy Award as the team's top special teams performer. He ranked second in the ACC in gross punting average (42.9) last season.
Â
The Orange kick off the 2019 campaign at Liberty on Saturday, Aug. 31 and open their home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 14 versus Clemson.
Â
Season and single-game Syracuse football tickets are on sale now online (Cuse.com/tickets), by phone (888-DOME-TIX) or in person at the Dome Box Office (Gate B). Season tickets start at $125.
Â
