SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior Gabriela Knutson is officially a three-time All-American.
The Syracuse women's tennis star earned 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division I All-America honors in singles Thursday, May 30. It marks the second consecutive year that she takes home the status in singles, and it's the third All-America recognition of her career.
She, along with partner Miranda Ramirez, also garnered the honor in doubles last year.
The criteria for All-American honors in singles includes earning a top-16 seed into the NCAA Singles Championship, advancing to the round of 16 at the NCAA Championship or finishing in the top 20 of the final Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings. Knutson achieved two of those three, earning a top-16 seed into the NCAA Singles Championship and finishing the year ranked No. 20 in the Oracle/ITA singles poll.
Knutson picked up All-ACC First Team recognition for the second consecutive season after compiling a 15-7 singles record in the regular season this spring. She went 8-5 against nationally ranked opponents and recorded two victories over top-five opponents, ranking as high as No. 5 in the national singles preseason poll. She departs Syracuse with the second-most overall victories (179) in school history.
