Orange Sweep Northeast Region Honors

Paige Stoner and Iliass Aouani swept the USTFCCCA Northeast Region Performer of the Year honors, making Syracuse the lone school to sweep both men's and women's honors.
Both set to compete in the NCAA 10,000-meters championship this week, Stoner and Aouani each won two ACC titles and set numerous records this season. The duo marks two of the three ACC student-athletes honored in the eight regions.
A Milan, Italy native, Aouani broke the Syracuse and ACC record in the 10k at the Stanford Invitational in a time of 28:25.36, which was the No. 5 time nationally this season. He continued his success at the ACC Championships, with a distance double, winning both the 10,000 and 5,000-meter runs.
A native of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Stoner posted top-five times nationally in the 10k, 5k and 3000-meter steeplechase this season. Her No. 2 10k time of 32:07.36 was the 12th fastest collegiate time ever in the event. She'll leave 'Cuse with the school record in the steeple, 5k and 10k. At the ACC Championships, she won gold in both the steeple and 5k, before qualifying for NCAAs in the 10k last week.
The duo will race on Wednesday (men's 10k) and Thursday (women's 10k) in Austin, Texas.
