SYRACUSE, N.Y. – On the strength of last year's 10-3 campaign, preseason honors for members of the 2019 Orange football team continue to pour in.
Â
Placekicker Andre Szmyt and safety Andre Cisco have picked up first-team preseason All-America honors from Lindy's and Phil Steele. Additionally, the Orange are well represented on the preseason all-conference teams of both outlets with 10 combined players earning recognition.
Â
Szmyt's awards completed a sweep. The former walk-on is a projected first-team All-American by all four major preseason magazines (Athlon, Street & Smith's, Lindy's and Phil Steele). Szmyt was also voted college football's No. 1 kicker by Lindy's.
Â
Cisco was previously tabbed a preseason first-team All-American by Street & Smith's, bringing his projected first-team All-America nods to three. The sophomore was picked to the Athlon Preseason All-America Third Team last month and Lindy's named him the second-best safety in America behind LSU's Grant Delpit.
Â
Lindy's list of superlatives also featured Orange defensive end Alton Robinson, who was voted the ACC's best pass rusher on the strength of his 10-sack performance in 2018. He was also tabbed the No. 12 player nationally at his position.
Â
Szmyt, Cisco and Robinson were named All-ACC Preseason First Team selections by both outlets. Other Syracuse players recognized by Lindy's and Phil Steele were: punter Sterling Hofrichter, offensive linemen Evan Adams and Airon Servais, defensive end Kendall Coleman, wide receiver and return specialist Sean Riley, running back Moe Neal and quarterback Tommy DeVito.
Â
Syracuse is set to begin preseason camp in August. The Orange kick off the 2019 campaign at Liberty on Saturday, Aug. 31 and open their home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 14 versus Clemson.
Â
Season and single-game tickets are on sale now online (Cuse.com/tickets), by phone (888-DOME-TIX) or in person at the Dome Box Office located in the Ensley Athletic Center. Season tickets start at $125.
Â
Syracuse's single-game ticket allotment for the Clemson game is sold out. The only way to guarantee a seat to watch the Orange and Tigers is through the purchase of a season ticket.
