Orange Place Two Boats in the Top-10 at IRA Championships

Sacramento, Calif. – The ninth-ranked Syracuse University men's rowing team placed two varsity eight crews in the top-10 at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships at the Sacramento Aquatic Center in Sacramento, Calif., on Sunday morning.
The third varsity eight began the morning by racing to a third-place finish in the Petite Final and a ninth-place finish overall. Syracuse clocked in at 5:56.504, four seconds behind Northeastern and two seconds behind second-place Boston University.
The 2V8+ placed fifth in the Petite Final, earning an 11th-place finish overall. Syracuse crossed the finish line in 5:54.964, four seconds behind BU, who won the Petite Final in 5:50.124.
In the final race of the day, the varsity eight turned up the pressure in the last 500 meters but was unable to sneak past Boston University, ultimately finishing third in the Petite Final. The Orange were 1.788 seconds behind Brown and earned at a ninth-place finish overall at the IRA Championships.
This marks the eighth time the varsity eight has finished in the top-10 at IRAs under head coach Dave Reischman.
