All-American Paige Stoner has the World Championship qualifying standard in the steeplechase.
The Orange alum raced to a time of 9:39.10, over seven seconds faster than her previous PR, to finish fourth at the 2019 Sunset Tour Meet in Azusa, California. Stoner – who was a USTFCCCA First Team All-American in the 10k this spring – beat the IAAF World Championship Standard by nearly a second.
The two-time defending ACC Champion in the event, can race in the USATF Championships, which run from July 25-28 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Stoner is one of many 'Cuse track stars doing well in national and international competition. Laura Dickinson and Iliass Aouani just represented their countries at the World University Games, Justyn Knight has the IAAF standard in the 5k, Freddie Crittenden III and Jarret Eaton both rank in the top-20 of the IAAF rankings in the 110-meter hurdles, to name a few.
