
Softball Inks Two NLIs for 2020

Catie Dobbs and Jude Padilla have each signed a National Letter of Intent and will arrive at Syracuse in the fall, joining the fold for the Syracuse softball team in 2020.
"We are super excited to add these two," said head coach Shannon Doepking. "I think they're going to add depth in positions where we need to add depth. They are both really hardworking, driven and passionate kids with high character and they're going to fit in really well in the Syracuse family."
Catie Dobbs
Hometown: Alpine, Calif.
High School: Granite Hills
Position: Pitcher/First Base
Dobbs comes to Syracuse after a standout career at Granite Hills High School, where she helped propel the Eagles to an 88-41-2 record and four-consecutive league championship titles. She concluded her high school career with a 1.90 earned-run average, 30 wins and 410 strikeouts -- third most in Granite Hills history. Dobbs punched out 139 batters in her senior season in 88 innings pitched and recorded a 2.15 earned-run average.
At the plate, she held a .291 career batting average with seven homeruns, three of them coming as a senior. Dobbs earned second team all-league honors as a junior and first team honors as a senior. She was tabbed San Diego HS Coaches' Association Female Athlete of the Year in 2019 and Female Athlete of the Year for Granite Hills all four years.
Dobbs also excelled off the field, collecting San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team honors, was ASB Commissioner of Sports, was the choir officer, participated in the vocal ensemble, was a member of the National Honor Society and served on the class cabinet as well as the student congress.
Judith "Jude" Padilla
Hometown: New Braunfels, Tex.
High School: Incarnate Word
Position: Catcher/First Base
Padilla joins the Orange following a stellar senior season as a captain at Incarnate Word High School. She posted a .458 batting average with nine homeruns, 50 runs batted in, 42 runs scored, a .508 on-base percentage and a .879 slugging percentage. The infielder led the Shamrocks to a state championship victory as a junior in 2018 and back to the state final four in 2019.
Padilla earned First Team All-Texas Honors and Academic All-Texas Honors in 2018 and 2019. She was also First Team All-District and Academic All-District in all four years. She was named Most Valuable Player for Incarnate Word as a senior and was a member of the National Honor Society.
