SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse women's soccer (2-4-1) played to a 0-0 tie against Fordham (1-5-2) at SU Soccer Stadium today to close out the non-conference portion of the season with an undefeated home record. The Orange return to the pitch Friday at 7 p.m. when they open ACC play at Pitt. Fans can watch the match live on ACC Network Extra.
Â
'Cuse junior goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx' perfect home record continued today with the Montreal, Quebec, native recording her third clean sheet of the season at the SU Soccer Stadium. With today's draw, Proulx has one-upped her two-game stint of goalless matches from 2017. This is the first time since 2016 that Syracuse hasn't allowed a goal in the first three home matches of the year.
Â
"As the season has progressed Lys has gotten better and I think her decision making has gotten better," head coach Nicky Adams said. "I pulled her aside two days ago and told her that every game I can count on her to make at least one big save, and once again she proved that today. Her confidence is growing and she's getting better every week."
Â
How it happened:
Chances were plentiful for the Orange throughout the first half of play as 'Cuse racked up eight shots and six corners in the first 45 minutes.
Â
Syracuse continued their aggressive style of play in the second half as the team put up eight more scoring chances, hitting the post on one occasion while forcing Rams goalkeeper Kelly LaMorte to make four saves. Sophomore Meghan Root produced chance after chance in regulation, sending nine shots toward the goal mouth.
Â
Scoring opportunities died off as the overtime periods rolled through, with Fordham recording just one attempt between both periods and the Orange making LaMorte make just four saves.
Â
Up Next:
The Orange are scheduled to open ACC play this Friday, Sept. 20 at Pitt. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
Â
Syracuse's game against Pitt will be shown live on ACC Network Extra, but fans can only watch it if their cable provider carries the ACC Network. Fans unsure if their provider carries ACCN are strongly encouraged to visit GetACCN.com.
