Two-time NCAA Champion at Syracuse, Justyn Knight advanced to the world final of the 5,000-meters at the IAAF Championships on Friday.
It's the second time Knight has reached the finals of the event, doing so before his senior season at 'Cuse in 2017 as well. Knight crossed the line in 13:25.95 to advance on time and be one of 15 competitors in Monday's final.
The Canadian also has a sub-13:10 time on the books this year, running 13:09.76 in a Diamond League race in Italy.
His qualification comes to no surprise after Knight finished his Orange career as the most decorated track athlete in ACC history. While racing for SU, he won 16 ACC championships (five team, 11 individual) and two NCCA championships (2017 NCAA Cross Country Championship, 2018 NCAA Indoor 5,000-meters championship) and earned USTFCCCA All-America accolades 11 times.
The final will be on Monday at 2:20 eastern time. Orange alum and current volunteer assistant Flings Owusu-Agyapong and volunteer assistant Gemma Acheampong will race for Ghana in the 4x100-meter relay later this week as well.
