CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Syracuse goes on the road to face No. 18/18 Virginia on Saturday, Jan. 11 in a rematch of the season opener. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Charlottesville.

ORANGE UPDATE
Four players scored in double figures in Syracuse's 67-63 loss to Virginia Tech in the Carrier Dome on Tuesday. Redshirt junior Elijah Hughes led the way with 18 points, while freshmen Joseph Girard III and Quincy Guerrier finished with 12 points each. The Hokies' defense limited the Orange (8-7, 1-3) to a season-low 17 3-point attempts and six assists.

HUGHES RANKS AMONG ACC BEST
Hughes is not only Syracuse's leading scorer, he is one of the top scorers in the ACC. The Beacon, N.Y., native is averaging 19.6 points per game, which rank second in the ACC. Louisville's Jordan Nwora leads the league in scoring (20.9 ppg.). Hughes also ranks eighth in the league in assists per game (4.53) and second in 3-point field goals made (47). Teammate Buddy Boeheim leads the ACC in that category with 55.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Defending national champion Virginia is coming off a 60-53 loss at Boston College on Tuesday, which snapped a two-game winning streak. The Cavaliers are 11-3 overall, including 8-1 at home, and 3-1 in conference play.

UVA features one of the top defenses in the nation. Virginia ranks first in Division in scoring defense (47.6 ppg.) and field goal percentage defense (34.7 percent). The Cavaliers have held four of their foes to less than 40 points.

Redshirt senior Mamadi Diakite is Virginia's leading scorer, averaging 13.6 points per game. He reached double figures in scoring in the first 11 games of the season. Senior Braxton Key also averages double figures in scoring (10.3 ppg.) and leads the Cavaliers efforts on the boards (7.4 rpg.).

Head coach Tony Bennett is in his 11th year at the helm of the Virginia program. The three-time National Coach of the Year led the Cavaliers to a school-record 35 wins last year on the way to the program's first national title.

THE SERIES
Syracuse and Virginia will meet for the 14th time. The Cavaliers hold an 8-5 advantage in the all-time series. The Orange won their first game in John Paul Jones Arena in 2007 but have lost the last three times they have visited Charlottesville.
Saturday's game is the second meeting between the two teams this season. Virginia traveled to the Dome for the season opener on Nov. 6. In a low-scoring affair, the Cavaliers came away with a 48-34 victory. Hughes led all scorers with 14 points.
