Notre Dame (3-1, 3-1 ACC) forward Kiki Van Zanten scored twice and the host Fighting Irish defeated Syracuse (0-3, 0-3 ACC), 2-0, on Sunday in South Bend. The victory was the third straight for Notre Dame while the Orange lost for the third time this fall.
IRISH FIND THE NET FIRST
Host Notre Dame got on the scoreboard first. Van Zanten received a pass from Brooke Van Dyke in the box and redirected the ball into the goal on the short side. The tally, at 42:03 of the opening half, was the initial goal the Orange have yielded in the first half this fall.
LAST-MINUTE ICER FOR IRISH
Van Zanten closed out the game's scoring. A Syracuse turnover found its way onto Van Zanten's right foot and she connected on an open net. Van Zanten has now scored six times on the season.
PROULX POSTS NINE-SAVE EFFORT
Senior goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx, who led the ACC in saves a season ago, made nine stops for the Orange against the Irish. The total was one shy of her career best of 10, accumulated against Pittsburgh.

The Fighting Irish remained unbeaten in the 17-game series with Syracuse. The triumph improved Notre Dame's series advantage to 16-0-1.
