ORANGE SET FOR HOME FINALE ON SATURDAY
• Syracuse will play its home finale vs. NC State on Saturday.
• The game will air on ESPN with Wes Durham (PxP) and Roddy Jones (analyst) on the call.
GAMEDAY CENTRAL
• Saturday's game is presented by AmeriCU.
• Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring the health and safety of our student-athletes, campus and Central New York community, fans are not permitted at Saturday's game in accordance with state and local guidelines. Tailgating in Syracuse University lots is also prohibited.
• Fans are encouraged to join in Syracuse's new interactive experience "'Cuse on the Couch", presented by KeyBank. It's a virtual second-screen show that will begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue through the duration of the game that is free on the Cuse app or Cuse.com. It aims to elevate the virtual fan experience, especially when our fans can't watch the home opener in person. The show will be hosted by Brian Higgins '04 and will be augmented with live updates, in-game statistics and on-demand video content.
DOME FINALE
• Syracuse will play its final home game of the 2020 slate in the Dome on Saturday.
• Since the Orange began playing in the building in 1980, the Orange have closed the building on a high note more often than not. 'Cuse is 24-16 in home finales in the 40-year history of the stadium.
• Traditionally reserved for 'Senior Day,' there's a unique uncertainty this season as the NCAA ruled that this season will not count toward eligibility due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, seniors will have the opportunity to return for the 2021 campaign.
SERIES HISTORY
• Saturday's game will be the 14th all-time meeting between Syracuse and NC State, two teams that have been ACC Atlantic Division foes since 'Cuse joined the league in 2013.
• NC State leads the all-time series 3-1 in games played in the Carrier Dome, however 'Cuse won the most recent matchup in the building, a 51-41 shootout in 2018.
• The series dates back to a 43-20 Wolfpack win in 1972. The teams played four times in the 1970s, twice at each campus, before resuming the series with home-and-home dates in 1997 and 1998. Since 2013, the schools have played annually.
TUCKER RISING IN ROOKIE RECORDS
• Rookie RB Sean Tucker has only played in seven of the Orange's nine games thus far, but he's rapidly closing in on the top-five freshman campaigns for a running back in program history.
• He now has 507 yards on the ground, 48 yards shy of breaking into the top-five rushing seasons by a Syracuse freshman.
• All-time leading rusher and Syracuse great Joe Morris leads the category with the only 1,000-yard season by an SU freshman, but Tucker is within reach of the remainder of the list.
HACKETT TO THE HOUSE
• TE Aaron Hackett is tied for the Syracuse record in career touchdown receptions by a tight end, one shy of becoming the program's all-time record holder.
• Hackett enters Saturday's contest tied with Nick Provo (9) for the most TD catches by an Orange tight end.Â
• Six of his scores were tallied during the 2019 season, which was the second-most TD catches by a tight end in the ACC, trailing only Louisville's Marshon Ford (7).
MOST FRESHMEN STARTERS IN PROGRAM HISTORY
• Five Syracuse freshmen (three true, two redshirt) started in Syracuse's two most recent games (vs. Boston College and at Louisville) – the most freshmen to start a game on one side of the ball in program history.
• LB Stefon Thompson and DBs Garrett Williams, Aman Greenwood, Ja'Had Carter and Rob Hanna all had previously started games for 'Cuse this season, but this was the second time the combination had all started together.
• Syracuse had started four freshmen on defense in each of the prior four contests, which had tied the previous program record, before the two most recent games.
• Additionally, more than 71-percent of Syracuse's active roster this season is comprised of players in their first two years of eligibility, a mark that ranks fourth in the FBS. The 'active roster' is comprised of players who've not opted out. The list includes injured players.Â
