When the No. 22 Syracuse women's basketball team takes the floor on Wednesday night it will be the first night game, in any sport, under the new Carrier Dome roof. 'Cuse squares off with Lincoln (0-1) at 6 p.m. on ACCNX for its first home game of the season. Syracuse started the 2020-21 campaign on the road Sunday with a 50-39 win at Stony Brook.
Tiana Mangakahia made her much anticipated return to the court and scored a game-high 16 points. Kamilla Cardoso shined in her career debut with 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocks shooting 50 percent from the field in 13 minutes. The Orange forced 22 turnovers against the Seawolves and held Stony Brook to 12.5 percent from behind the arc (3-for-24) in the win.
Lincoln, a member of the NCAA Division II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), posted a 23-6 record in 2019-20 and went 12-3 in conference before losing in the first round of the CIAA Tournament. Lincoln opened the season with a 53-38 road loss at George Washington on Nov. 25 and have scheduled four NCAA Division I teams this season. Last year the Lions earned their first national ranking in the school's Division II era and set a program record with 23 victories. The Lions had six Division I transfers on this year's roster.
Wednesday is the first meeting in program history for the two squads.
