"This is the Best Decision I've Ever Made."

Trimboli thrives in senior season and shares those experiences with his tight-knit family.
If you visit the Dome on a day the Syracuse men's lacrosse team is playing, behind the bench you'll see Jamie Trimboli's family decked out in shirts to support the Orange midfielder.
Now a two-time All-American and senior captain at Syracuse, Trimboli is living the dream that he envisioned more than a decade ago while growing up in Victor, N.Y. a mere hour west on the Thruway.
"My whole family and I would come up and catch games when I was a kid," Trimboli said. "After the whole 2009 madness I was die-hard, so we'd come to a game or two every year after that and I'd never miss one on TV. I've got an army of crazy Italian family members wearing shirts and screaming every game. That's really what I wanted out of this was to have my family enjoy it with me."
Trimboli has scored some big goals and had incredible moments in an Orange jersey to date. The senior scored an overtime game-winning goal to beat Duke in his first collegiate start as a freshman - then he scored the game-winning goal against Duke again the following year – to name a few. But sharing those moments with his tight-knit family are his favorite part of the experience.
"It's the most amazing part of this whole journey, just having them there," Trimboli said. "They always sit behind the bench and I can hear them throughout the game. It was my dream to come here and I wanted to be able to share it with the people who put a lot of time and effort into helping me get here. I have intermediate and extended family at every game and my girlfriend comes to every game. It's really cool. I run out of tickets for them though."

While his love for the Orange was solidified during the program's 2009 NCAA Championship run and memorably wild finish to the title game, his own Syracuse journey began not long after that. Trimboli committed to the Orange in the summer of 2013.
"I was in the age of early recruiting. I was really young," Trimboli said. "My freshman year things started to take off and I had heard from a couple schools and I was considering those just because the process was so crazy and everyone was committing - I felt rushed. Then Coach Rogers called at the perfect time. I came for a visit and it happened fast. The next weekend I was like 'let's do it.' It was the summer after my freshman year."
Seven years after his official visit, Trimboli enters the heart of his senior season having twice been named a USILA All-American. One of the nation's best midfielders, he's already scored 64 goals and registered 85 points in his Orange tenure.
The success has been there all of Trimboli's four years and a decision he officially made at age 15 – and unofficially made long before that – has ended up being one that he's never wavered from.
"This is the best decision I've ever made," Trimboli said. "This place has allowed me to grow a lot as a player and as a person. It's everything I imagined it would be. Playing for Coach Desko – all the legends are true. He's the best coach in the country and all of the people you get to meet here and the relationships you get to build are absolutely incredible."
Syracuse hosts Army on Sunday at 1 p.m. Tickets are available at Cuse.com/Tickets, by calling 888-DOME-TIX or in person at the Ensley Athletic Center Box Office or the Dome (on game day). Student tickets are free with a valid student ID.
