Syracuse University Athletics, in partnership with University officials, continues to monitor and assess information about COVID-19 (coronavirus) from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and New York state and Onondaga County health officials to inform decisions that are in the best interest of the health and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches and staff.

Statement from Director of Athletics John Wildhack regarding the cancellation of athletic related activities:
"The decision to cancel Spring sports seasons by the NCAA and the ACC is the correct action at this time given the unprecedented circumstances due to the spread of COVID-19. I empathize with the student-athletes and coaches who have seen their seasons come to an abrupt end, however, our number one priority remains the health and safety of everyone involved. The Athletics Department staff will continue to work with league and university leadership to do what is best for our student-athletes and our athletics programs."

Atlantic Coast Conference suspends all athletic related activities (3 p.m.)
Statement from Director of Athletics John Wildhack regarding the suspension of athletic related activities:
"The indefinite suspension of intercollegiate athletics is a necessary action during this world health pandemic. The health and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and everyone involved is the top priority. Â We will continue to seek guidance from the ACC, university leadership, health experts and local authorities in making decisions."
2020 ACC Men's Basketball Tournament cancelled (12:15 p.m.)
Statement from Director of Athletics John Wildhack regarding the ACC Men's Basketball Tournament:
"Given the spread of COVID-19, the Presidents, Chancellors, Athletic Directors and Conference leadership agreed the correct action was to cancel the remainder of the ACC Tournament. Â While we are disappointed for our student-athletes and fans, the No. 1 priority is the health and safety of everyone involved."
