Syracuse (4-9-1, 0-7 ACC) started strong with the game's first goal but Pittsburgh (9-6, 2-5 ACC) countered with three unanswered goals and went on to a 4-2 victory at the SU Soccer Stadium on Monday.
The game was originally scheduled for Saturday evening but heavy rains made the field unplayable and bumped the contest to noon on Oct. 18.
ORANGE STRIKE EARLY
Syracuse opened the game's scoring when sophomore Hannah Pilley tallied at 8:59, her second goal of the campaign.The play was started by a corner kick from graduate student Natalie Weidenbach. A scramble in front of the net ensued and Pilley eventually found the goal on a left-footed drive.
PITT BATTLES BACK
The Panthers answered with two first-half goals. The first came when Sarah Schupansky pounced on a loose ball and scored her seventh of the year. A little more than 12 minutes later, Leah Pais gave Pittsburgh the lead after Emily Yaple lead Landy Mertz and her pass in front was directed in by Pais.
The visitors extended their margin just 2:32 into the second half when a crossing pass went in off a Syracuse player for an own goal.
MACHTENS HELPS 'CUSE RALLY
Syracuse freshman Pauline Machtens initiated an Orange rally. Weidenbach's free kick resulted in a battle for the ball and Machtens secured it and scored her third goal of the fall.
PANTHERS CLOSE THINGS OUT
At the 64:42 mark, Anna Bout found the net after a pass from Mertz. The two rivals played even the rest of the way.

- Syracuse senior Lysianne Proulx had double-digit saves for the third time in the last four games. She finished with 12 stops against the Panthers.
- Machtens led the Orange with five shots while Mertz had seven attempts for the Panthers.
- Pittsburgh outshot the Orange, 27-12.
- The two clubs each earned five corner kicks.
