Proulx Makes Career-high 15 Saves in Loss to #4 Duke

Lysianne Proulx made a career-high 15 saves in Syracuse's 2-0 loss at No. 4 Duke on Saturday night in Durham, N.C. The Orange move to 4-6-1 overall and 0-4 in the ACC while Duke improves to 8-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in league play. 'Cuse will travel to undefeated Florida State (11-0) on Thursday, Oct. 7 for a 7 p.m. game against the No. 1 Seminoles on ACCNX.
Duke's Lily Nabet found the back of the lower right side of the goal to put the Blue Devils ahead 1-0 in the 28th minute of action. Despite being outshot 14-2 in the opening 45 minutes, Proulx's spectacular play in net kept it a one-goal game at the break.
The Blue Devils controlled most of the second half giving the Orange very few offensive opportunities. Maggie Graham scored on a rebounded save off Mackenzie Pluck's shot to give Duke a 2-0 lead in the 56th minute.
The Orange managed to get a shot off in the 72nd minute but Kendyl Lauher's attempt was stopped by Ruthie Jones.
Duke had a 12-1 advantage of corners and outshot the Orange 27-3 in their second ACC win of the season.
The Orange return to action Thursday against the top-ranked Seminoles of FSU in Tallahassee, Fla. Fans can watch the action live on ACCNX through the ESPN app.
Orange to Celebrate 50 Years of Syracuse University women's athletics
Orange alumni, fans and friends are invited to share in a year-long celebration of 50 years of Syracuse University women's athletics. Events and special recognition of all female student-athletes who have donned the Block S to represent Syracuse University and the Athletics Department since 1971-72 will be held throughout the 2021-22 seasons. As we celebrate this history, we acknowledge those who have gone before us to set the standard we strive to achieve today so we can pave the way for the future. We reflect on the history of women in sport, admire their sacrifices, recognize their contributions and accomplishments, and honor their legacy.
Kickoff Weekend is set for October 7th through 10th, beginning with the ice hockey home opener against Clarkson on Thursday, October 7th at 6 pm in the Tennity Ice Pavilion. All former student-athletes, fans and friends of Syracuse University Athletics are invited back to campus to begin the celebrate 50 years of women's athletics during multiple events. All fans attending games must adhere to Syracuse University's COVID-19 policy, which can be found here.
