This Weekend in Syracuse Field Hockey: #6 Orange hosts #16 Virginia

Syracuse field hockey is set to face No. 16 Virginia Friday night at J.S. Coyne Stadium. The No. 6 Orange (11-2,4-0 ACC) will host the Cavaliers (7-6, 2-2 ACC) at 4 p.m. on ACCNX.
'Cuse has won nine-straight games most recently beating No. 23 Duke, 7-2, on the road last Saturday. During that stretch, Syracuse has outscored its opponents 31-6. Virginia is the seventh nationally ranked opponent the Orange will face this season. 'Cuse is 5-1 against top-25 opponents with it's lone loss being to Rutgers, 3-2, in overtime on the road. Pleun Lammers, Quirine Comans and Charlotte de Vries make up the offensive triple threat for 'Cuse combining for 21Â goals this season. Defensively, Syracuse is holding its opponents to 0.92 goals per game and just 6.0 shots per game.Â
Virginia is coming off a 5-1 win on Wednesday against William & Mary. The Cavaliers have won two of their last five games and are 3-2 on the road this season. UVA is led by Amber Ezechiels who has a team-high 16 points this season with six goals and four assists. Virginia is averaging 2.21 goals per game on 16.7 shots per game.Â
Following Saturday's game Syracuse will travel to Louisville for the ACC regular season finale against the Cardinals on Friday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m.
