Syracuse opens its exhibition slate at the Dome when it takes on Pace on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 7:00 p.m.
SETTING THE STAGE
Both teams open their season with the exhibition. The Orange are undefeated in exhibition games since 2009, having won 21 straight contests. Syracuse finished 18-10 overall and  9-7 in the ACC last season. The Orange advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 before falling to Houston.
Pace did not take part in the 2020-21 season because of the pandemic. In 2019-20, the Setters were 19-11 overall and 10-9 in the Northeast 10 Conference.Â
THE SYRACUSE-PACE SERIES
Syracuse and Pace have never met in the regular season, only having played once in an exhibition previously. On Nov. 1, 2012, the Orange defeated the Setters 99-63 in the Dome.
BOEHEIM AND GIRARD III RETURN TO THE DOME
Syracuse returns backcourt-mates Buddy Boeheim and Joseph Girard III for their third season together. The two averaged a combined 27.6 points per game last season and led the charge for the Orange in upsets over San Diego State and West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament. Boeheim in particular shined in the first two rounds, scoring 55 points on 56.5% shooting from behind the arc.
COHEN JR. LOOKS TO RESUME SCORING PACE
Senior guard Tyrone Cohen Jr. closed the final six games of the 2019-20 season on a tear, averaging 16.6 points. Cohen Jr. scored 27 points in a tournament win over Southern New Hampshire in 2020, shooting nine-of-14 from the field, while sinking four three-pointers.
