ORANGE SET FOR ROAD FINALE
• Syracuse goes on the road for the final time during the 2021 regular season when it visits NC State on Saturday.
• The Orange are a win away from becoming bowl eligible for the second time under the direction of head coach Dino Babers.
• The game will air on ACC Regional Sports Networks, with Chris Cotter (PxP), Mark Herzlich (analyst) and Jalyn Johnson (reporter) on the call.Â
SERIES HISTORY
• Saturday's game will be the 15th all-time meeting between Syracuse and NC State. The squads have been ACC Atlantic Division foes since 'Cuse joined the league in 2013.
• The Wolfpack lead the all-time series, 12-2, including a 6-1 mark on their home field.Â
• The series dates back to a 43-20 Wolfpack win in 1972. The teams played four times in the 1970s, twice at each campus, before resuming the series with home-and-home dates in 1997 and 1998. Since 2013, the schools have played annually.
TUCKER ON THE DOORSTEP
• Freshman RB Sean Tucker is in position to break Syracuse's single-season rushing record.
• He enters Saturday's game with 1,362 yards this season. He needs 11 yards to break Joe Morris' mark that was set in 1979.
• Tucker ranks second in the nation in rushing with 1,362 yards. He trails Michigan State's Kenneth Walker III by 111 yards for the top spot.
• He leads the nation in yards from scrimmage (1,601).
• Tucker also ranks second in rushing yards per game (136.2) behind Walker III (147.3).
• He is one of 15 semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, presented annually to the nation's most outstanding college football player.
DYNAMIC DUO
• RB Sean Tucker and QB Garrett Shrader have formed one of the top offensive duos in the nation.
• The pair has rushed for a combined 2,075 yards, which is the most for any two FBS teammates. The next closest are Jaylen Warren and Kennedy Brooks from Oklahoma State (1,894).
• The 1,937 yards would position them as the 37th best team in total rushing yards. Overall, Syracuse ranks fifth in the nation in rushing (236.7/gm.).
• Shrader and Tucker have the most rushing touchdowns from scrimmage than any other pair (24).
• With one more rushing or receiving TD by either, Shrader and Tucker will be the highest single-season scoring tandem in school history. Syracuse has had two players combine for 26 rushing and/or receiving touchdowns three times before this season (1959, 2002 and 2003).
• Shrader and Tucker are tied for 13th on the Orange's single-season touchdowns scored list with 13 apiece. In addition, Shrader is tied for sixth for most rushing TDs in a season, while Tucker is tied for 13th.
A WIN WOULD …Â
• Improve Dino Babers' record to 30-41 as head coach of the Orange.
• Make Syracuse bowl eligible for the second time under the direction of head coach Dino Babers.
• Give the Orange a winning record on the road at 3-2.
• Give Syracuse its 742nd all-time victory (includes 11 wins from 2004-06 that were vacated by the NCAA). The Orange currently rank 22nd on the FBS ledger of winningest programs. Syracuse is one of 31 FBS schools to have accumulated 700+ wins.
THE HEAT IS ON
• Syracuse is tied for fifth in the FBS and leads the ACC in sacks with 34.
• The 34 sacks in 10 games tie for seventh on the Orange's single-season record list. It's the most sacks for Syracuse since 2018 when it set the all-time mark with 43.
• DL Cody Roscoe recorded three sacks against UAlbany, while DL Kingsley Jonathan had three sacks against Boston College. The pair are tied for 12th for the most sacks in a FBS game this season.
• Roscoe is tied for third in the ACC with eight sacks. Stefon Thompson is seventh with six and ranks second among the league's linebackers.
• The Orange have three players in the top 20 in the ACC in sacks. Syracuse is one of three schools in the league that can make that claim.
NEXT UP
• Syracuse has one final home game this season, where the 2021 seniors will be honored.
• Tickets are available for next Saturday's game vs. Pitt at Cuse.com/Tickets or 888-DOME-TIX
• Fans are encouraged to remain in their seats postgame as the Orange seniors will complete the Senior Walk in their final trip around the Dome.
