The Orange advance to the ACC semifinals for the second time in two years and will face 3-seed North Carolina at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at home. The Tar Heels advanced with a 3-2 overtime win in the final game on Thursday's quarterfinal win over Wake Forest. All games of the ACC Tournament will be televised nationally on ACC Network with Mike Corey and Leah Secondo on the call.Â
Ninth-ranked 'Cuse scored in the opening minute of play when SJ Quigley took a shot of a rebounded save at the left post to put the Orange ahead early. Willemijn scored on Syracuse's second penalty corner of the game, when she deflected van den Nieuwenhof's shot for a 2-0 lead in the ninth minute.Â
