From the Start
- Another weekend, another road trip for the Orange. This time Syracuse heads for New Jersey for its second go 'round in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
- The Orange meet Ohio State on Friday afternoon with a 3 p.m. start in Piscataway before rounding out the Challenge on Sunday with a 2 p.m. first push against host and long-time foe Rutgers.
- Things got off on the right foot for Syracuse last weekend as the Orange dispatched two CAA opponents in Fairfield (2-1) and Northeastern (3-2) on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
- This season marked a fourth straight season under head coach Lynn Farquhar in which the Orange have started the year 2-0 and the second time in three years Syracuse has done it with a pair of true road games.
- Syracuse hits the midway point of a five-game road swing to open the season this weekend. The Orange wrap up that road trip with a single-game weekend, taking on the Bison of Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on Sunday, Sept. 13.
- While the Orange will be certified Road Warriors by the time they play at home, it's not huge distances. The farthest Syracuse will travel in this five-game stretch is Boston last Sunday, just over 300 miles from Syracuse's home at the John A. Lally Athletics Complex and Coyne Field.
- Farquhar is in the early stages of her fourth season at the helm of the program, looking to add to her 39 wins in her time at Syracuse. The Orange reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for a second time in those first three years last year, knocking out Liberty in strokes.
With a Win Friday Syracuse Would...
- Would improve to 3-0 for a second-straight year and the third time in the first four years of the Farquhar Era.
- Improve to 3-0 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
- Log its ninth win all-time against Ohio State since the series began in 1993.
- Pick up its first-ever neutral site win over the Buckeyes. Syracuse is 0-1-0 all-time in neutral-site games against Ohio State, falling 3-2 in overtime in University Park, Pennsylvania in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
- Be the 40th win in Lynn Farquhar's head coaching career at Syracuse and her 147th overall win as a head coach, including 107 at Saint Joseph's.
- See the Orange win their 17th-straight regular season nonconference game, dating back to a September 13, 2024 win over Northeastern.
Jovie Weaver: ACC OPOTW
- Two games in, two game-winning goals as Syracuse University freshman forward Jovie Weaver was selected as an ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced its first weekly award winners on Sept. 1
- Weaver was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week alongside Liz Klompmaker (California) with Louisville's Emily Young earning Defensive Player of the Week.
- Earning her first career Player of the Week honors, Weaver was selected after scoring two goals in her opening weekend of collegiate play with a pair of goals. In Friday's opener at Fairfield, Weaver potted what stood as the game-winning goal in the 25th minute, scoring a rebounded ball.
- On Sunday, the Palmyra, Pennsylvania native again helped the Orange rally back, depositing the winner in the 42nd minute with another loose ball in front of the Huskies' goal.
The ACC/Big Ten Challenge: The Sequel
- This weekend will be the second time Syracuse competes in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge since joining the League for the 2013 season.
- The Orange got off to an electric start against these same two opponents a year ago as the Buckeyes of Columbus hosted the event.
- Last year in the second game of the weekend, Syracuse edged out #13 Ohio State 2-1 thanks to a perfect aerial pass from Bo van Kempen into Hattie Madden in the scoring area for the game-winner.
- In the Friday game in 2025, Syracuse shut out #16 Rutgers 2-0 with current sophomore Aubrey Turner scoring what stood as an insurance goal in just the 18th minute, the final tally of the afternoon for either side.
- Like this year, Syracuse platooned its goalies. Tane King made seven saves in the Ohio State game across 45 minutes of work. Jessie Eiselin played in the first half of each game and was not charged to make a save nor did she allow a goal.
