Teisha Hyman scored a career-high 30 points in Syracuse's 97-91 win over No. 18/20 Ohio State in the Carrier Dome Wednesday night. The Orange improve to 4-4 overall and are now 4-1 at home this season.Â
Chrislyn Carr set a program record with 22 points in the fourth quarter after having just one point through the first three frames. It marked the third straight game Carr has scored 20 or more points.Â
Naje Murray surpassed her previous season-high of 17 points from Sunday night with a 21-point performance while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds and dishing five assists.Â
The Orange scored the first points of the game, a Hyman three-ball, but Ohio State responded with a 15-0 run to lead 15-3 with 3:42 to go in the first quarter. Syracuse trailed by six at the end of the first frame and brought it within three by halftime behind a 18-point performance from Hyman in the first half.
'Cuse outscored Ohio State 29-19 in the third to take the lead and the Orange never looked back. Carr's 22 fourth-quarter points, which included going 11-for-13 at the charity stripe, helped seal the win for Syracuse.Â
Acting head coach Vonn Read used just six players in his first win over a nationally-ranked opponent as a head coach. All six scored and four of the six scored in double figures. Alaysia Styles had 10 points and six rebounds and played the entire fourth quarter in foul trouble with four fouls as Syracuse's only available forward.Â
Christianna Carr added nine points and a teamhigh seven rebounds while Alaina Rice added four points, three rebounds and two steals.Â
Hyman is the first Syracuse player to score 30 points in a game since Kiara Lewis had 32 against No. 22 West Virginia on Dec. 22, 2019. Wednesday's win also marked the first time Syracuse had three players score 20-plus points since Brittney Sykes (28), Alexis Peterson (25) and Gabrielle Cooper (24) did so on March 18, 2017 in the NCAA Tournament against Iowa State.Â
The Orange return to action in the Dome on Sunday when they host Central Connecticut State at 2 p.m.Â
