The Orange lost to Mercyhurst, 3-0, on Friday night at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Syracuse will play the Lakers in the second game of the College Hockey America series on Saturday at 3 pm. The game will be streamed on Cuse.com. Admission to Orange ice hockey games is free. All fans attending must adhere to Syracuse University's COVID-19 policy, which can be found here.

"Our backs are to the wall in terms of getting league points to establish ourselves," said head coach Paul Flanagan. "It is still early in the season but we know how it works in our league so it was tough to give up two points tonight."

Syracuse (5-7-3 overall, 4-3 CHA) goalie Arielle DeSmet recorded 43 saves in the game, increasing her career total to 1,020. She recorded her 1,000th career save in the second period.

In the first period Mercyhurst's Chantal Ste-Croix opened the scoring on a goal at the 5:27 mark in the first period. The Lakers (13-5-2, 4-1) added to their lead in the second period on a goal by Alexa Vasko at the 8:10 mark of the stanza. Vanessa Upson tallied Mercyhurst's third goal with 6:48 remaining in the game.
