Orange Lose to Florida State on the Road

The Syracuse women's basketball team could not overcome a 14-point halftime deficit on the road on Thursday night, falling 67-52 to Florida State (7-5, 6-5 ACC).
Freshman Kamilla Cardoso reached double figures for the 14th time this season, ending the game with a team-high 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.Â

Syracuse (11-5, 8-5 ACC) had the early advantage with a 9-2 lead, but Florida State closed the first quarter on a on a 11-1 run to take a 13-10 lead into the second quarter. The Seminoles held 'Cuse to just eight second quarter points to extend the lead to 32-18 at the half. Bianca Jackson led the 'Noles through the first 20 minutes with 14 first-half points.

The Orange cut the FSU lead to nine heading into the final frame, outscoring Florida State 21-16 in the third, with Tiana Mangakahia scoring nine points in the quarter. Syracuse got the margin to eight early in the fourth quarter but the Seminoles closed the game out by hitting on four of their final-five attempts from the field to seal the win.

Syracuse returns to the Carrier Dome on Sunday afternoon for a matchup with No. 3 Louisville. The contest will be broadcast on ESPN 2 at 1 p.m. and is Syracuse's Play4Kay game.Â
