
Orange Go on The Road For Pair of ACC Matches

SYRACUSE, N.Y.— Coming off its second win of the season, the Syracuse tennis squad has two ACC opponents this weekend. First, the Orange battle Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Friday Feb. 19. Syracuse then heads to South Bend, Ind. to take on a 7-3 Notre Dame team on Sunday, Feb. 21. Both matches begin at noon.
LAST TIME OUT
The 'Cuse won its second straight as it posted a 7-0 victory over Army in its first home match of the season. The Orange took the doubles point with victories by graduate student Natalie Novotna and freshman Viktoriya Kanapatskaya as well as the duo of graduate students Miranda Ramirez and Guzal Yusupova.
Syracuse swept the singles match ups with victories by Kanapatskaya, Yusupova, Novotna, Ramirez, Zeynep Erman and Polina Kozyreva.
SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
Coming off a loss and a cancelled match, the Cardinals are 3-2 in the young season. Louisville has posted victories against Ball State, Miami University and Wichita State, while its losses have come against Iowa State and Vanderbilt.
Last season, the Orange defeated the Cardinals, 4-3. The Orange took the doubles point then went on to victory with singles wins by Ramirez, Kim Hansen and Sofya Trescheva.
SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
The Irish sport a 7-3 record thus far and have won five of their last six matches. They have shut out their opponent on five separate occasions through their first 10 matches.
Last season, Syracuse defeated Notre Dame, 4-3 at the Drumlins Tennis Club. The Irish took the doubles point, but the Orange won four of the singles matches to take the win. Kozyreva's win at No. 5 singles clinched the victory over No. 15 Notre Dame.
WHAT'S NEXT
After the short road stint, the Orange have four straight home matches against Virginia Tech on Feb.26, Virginia on Feb. 28, Miami on March 12 and Florida State on March 14.
