The Orange ice hockey team returns to Tennity Ice Pavilion this weekend for a two-game series against Long Island University, marking the first games in the series. The teams will face off Friday Feb. 19 at 7 pm and on Saturday Feb. 20 at 2 pm. Both games will be streamed live on Cuse.com. LIU assistant coach Nicole Renault played for Syracuse from 2012-13 through 2015-16 and is the Orange career record holder for points by a defenseman. She recorded 76 points (18 goals and 58 assists) in 145 career games.

Syracuse (6-8-1 overall, 6-6-1 College Hockey America) is coming off a three-game sweep against the Lindenwood Lions last weekend, while LIU (2-6-0) defeated Sacred Heart University, 3-1, on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Seniors Jessica DiGirolamo and Allison Small are the College Hockey America Player and Goaltender of the Week after leading the Orange to three wins at Lindenwood last weekend. DiGiroalamo accounted for six points (five goals and one assist) in Syracuse's sweep of Lindenwood, while Small recorded 64 saves in the three victories.

A defender, DiGirolamo recorded a hat trick in a 4-1 win on Friday and tallied two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win on Sunday. She ranks 8th nationally for points per game by a defenseman. She leads the Orange in blocks with 31 and is the team's leading goal scorer with eight. She holds the Syracuse record for career goals by defensemen with 25. She is fifth on the list for assists by a defenseman with 43. In the points column, DiGirolamo has 68 total, which is fourth on the Orange record list for career points by a defenseman.

Small's career save percentage (.921) is the best in Syracuse history and her season save percentage (.932) is third on the SU single-season record list.

  • Through 15 games this season 17 players have scored at least one point.
  • Junior Abby Moloughney leads the team in scoring with 16 points (5G/11A).
  • Moloughney and junior Lauren Bellefontaine each have a team-leading 11 assists.

  • Sophomore Mae Batherson has scored at least one point, including three goals and two assists, in five of the last six games. She had a goal and an assists in the Orange win at Lindenwood on Feb. 14.

Moloughney and Bellefontaine Making an Impact
Junior Abby Moloughney leads the team with 16 points this season (five goals and 11 assists), while junior Lauren Bellefontaine is second with 14 (three goals and 11 assists). Against Lindenwood, Moloughney assisted on six of the teams 13 goals in the three games and Bellefontaine assisted on five. Bellefontaine also added two goals in the three-game sweep.

Small Reaches 1,000 Career Saves
Goalie Allison Small earned her 1,000th career save against Lindenwood. She sits at 1,033 saves and holds the Syracuse career save percentage record with a .921 mark. She has recorded 25 or more saves in 23 of her 39 career games, and 30 or more saves in 16 of those contests. Her 44 saves against Penn State on Dec. 6 ties for the third-best save total in NCAA women's hockey in 2020-21 (as of Jan. 17) and ties for ninth on Syracuse's single-game record list.
