5 Things to Know: Syracuse vs. Virginia

'Cuse hosts #3 Virginia in the Dome on Saturday
Syracuse opens ACC play on Saturday when 'Cuse hosts Virginia at 6 p.m. Here are five things to know about the matchup:
1. The series is as close as it can be
Syracuse and Virginia have met 36 times. The series is tied 18-18 and each team has scored the exact same number of goals (466) in the series. The last-five matchups have also been decided by just one goal, including a 15-14 overtime victory for UVA last time these teams met in 2019.
2. The Orange are historically good when they need to bounce back
After falling in the season opener to Army, 'Cuse looks to rebound against Virginia. Historically, they've been very successful in avoiding losing streaks (two or more consecutive losses) under head coach John Desko, with only 13 streaks with two or more straight losses in his 22 seasons at the helm.
3. Watch on ACC Network
The game will be televised on ACC Network. ESPN and ACC Network announced their lacrosse broadcast schedule for the remainder of the season this week. All-12 regular season contest will be broadcast nationally on the ESPN family of networks, with 11 of the 12 appearing as a linear broadcast on either ESPNU or ACC Network.
Since 2016, 96-percent of Syracuse's games have been broadcast nationally.
4. 'Cuse is looking to extend its league-best record in ACC games
Since joining the ACC for the 2014 season, Syracuse boasts a 16-9 record in regular season league games and has two ACC tournament titles in that span. The Orange's record is the best among the five ACC teams, ahead of Duke (15-10), Notre Dame (13-12), North Carolina (12-13) and Virginia (5-20) in that span.
5. No fans yet
Fans will not be permitted to attend Saturday's game. Syracuse University continues to seek counsel and support from New York State as we work toward safely reopening the stadium - first to a small group of students, and eventually to more fans from the broader community, public health permitting. At the heart of our reopening plan is safeguarding the health, well-being and safety of the campus and surrounding communities. We appreciate the guidance we have received from New York State Department of Health and the Onondaga County Health Department and look forward to eventually welcoming spectators into the stadium for athletic competitions.
When fans are permitted back to Syracuse lacrosse games, Syracuse athletics will communicate information on purchasing tickets to our loyal fans.
