ROME, Ga. – No. 9 seed Syracuse lost its second-round match against eighth seed Wake Forest in the second round of the ACC Women's Tennis Tournament on Thursday, April 22. The Demon Deacons earned the doubles points and went on to claim the match, 5-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Wake Forest edged out Syracuse (7-11) to secure the doubles point. The pairing of Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth defeated Sofya Treshcheva and Polina Kozyreva, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles, but the Orange claimed the No. 3 match as Miranda Ramirez and Guzal Yusupova beat Anna Campana and Peyton Pesavento, 6-1.

The doubles point came down to the No. 1 match between Syracuse's Natalie Novotna and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya and Wake's Carolyn Campana and Eliza Omirou. The match was tied at 6-6, forcing a tie-breaker that Campana and Omirou won, 9-7.

Wake Forest (11-11) won the first four singles matches to finish to secure the victory. In the two matches that were not completed, No. 12 Kanapatskaya led #11 Carolyn Campana, 6-1, 2-2, while Novotna won the first set against #49 Anna Campana, 7-5.
