THE GAME
- Syracuse looks to win its second-straight ACC Game on the road on Saturday at Notre Dame.
- The game will be broadcast on ACCN with Chris Cotter (PxP) and Matt Ward (analyst) on the call. Brian Higgins '04 (PxP) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
THE NOTRE DAME SERIES
- Syracuse heads to Notre Dame for the first time since 2019 and is seeking its first win at Arlotta since 2017.Â
- Syracuse owns the all-time series 10-6.
- The matchup dates back to 2001 and head coaches John Desko and Kevin Corrigan have been at the helm of their respective programs for every contest.
- Last time out, Stephen Rehfuss (3-0) was the Orange's leading scorer in a game they lost 18-11.
TEWAARATON WATCH
- Stephen Rehfuss was named a Tewaaraton Award nominee, 1-of-25 players eligible for the award after the Watch List was cut down last week.
- The entire Syracuse first line midfield (Brendan Curry, Tucker Dordevic and Jamie Trimboli) were named to the first Tewaaraton Award Watch List of the season, while Rehfuss was added on the second watch list.
-Â Rehfuss enters Saturday's game with 177 career points.
CONFERENCE KINGS
- The Orange have finished with a .500-or-better record against conference opponents for the last five seasons (2015-2019, the Orange did not play a conference game in 2020). A win on Saturday would make that six years in a row.
- Since joining the ACC, Syracuse has the second-best record in regular season league games (18-12) and also has two ACC Tournament titles. Duke holds a 19-11 record in that time. Notre Dame (15-15), North Carolina (15-15) and Virginia (8-23) make up the remaining records.
- 'Cuse was 4-0 in league play in the 2017 and 2018 seasons and has never finished worse than 2-3 2014, its inaugural season in the league. The Orange have been .500 or better each year since.
- For that dominance, head coach John Desko has become the first coach in the history of the league to win ACC Men's Lacrosse Coach of the Year in four-straight (2015-18) seasons. No other coach has done so even three times.
A WIN AGAINST NOTRE DAME WOULD...
- Be the program's 924th victory, second all-time behind Johns Hopkins.
- Improve Syracuse to 3-3 in league play this season and extend their record to 19-12 in conference games since joining the ACC in 2014. That record is the second best among any ACC programs.
- Be the 529th win Desko has been part of at Syracuse, including his time as a player, assistant and head coach. Only 18 NCAA Division I programs have more total wins as a program than Desko has been on the Orange sideline for.
PHAUP COMES BACK STRONG
- Jakob Phaup won 24-of-27 faceoffs against Virginia, the sixth-best single-game total in Syracuse history and the most wins by a SU player in one game since 2003.
-Â Phaup won just one faceoff in the last meeting at the X, so he's seeking a turnaround performance vs. the Irish Saturday.
