Amanda Vestri and Annie Heffernan added to the Syracuse contingent that qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday night.
Vestri (third) and Heffernan (fifth) both easily qualified for the 10,000-meter final by finishing inside the top-12 at the NCAA East Preliminary. JP Trojan qualified in the men's 10k last night.
All-four members of the Orange in the field performed to or better than their seed in a race, headlined by Vestri, who finished in 33:32.71, which was third overall. Heffernan was right behind in 33:39.84. Alabama's Mercy Chelangat was the winner in 33:06.83, a time that was a new track record at North Florida.
Jordan Jacob took 25th overall in 34:52.70, and Abigail Spiers finished in 36:17.27.
Earlier in the evening, Shaleah Colaire turned in a new PR in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.98 seconds. She finished 15 spots ahead of her seed, but did not advance.
Two members of the Orange are still to compete this week in both the men's and women's 3000-meter steeplechase. Aidan Tooker will race on Friday, while Justus Holden-Betts concludes the meet on Saturday for the Orange.
